Elaine Morrow

Elaine Morrow (she/her)
Director of Birch Therapy Clinic
BABCP accredited CBT & EMDR Therapist

Elaine has over a decade of experience working in Mental health services, delivering high quality therapy throughout various NHS Trusts, including: IAPT, Secondary Care and Complex PTSD services, alongside private clinics such as the Priory and Bupa.

Elaine specialises in the treatment of psychological trauma, with a special focus on Complex Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (C-PTSD) and chronic health conditions. Her enduring commitment to delivering effective therapies for CPTSD led her to develop a structured Three-Phase approach, refined over many years of clinical practice. This work has culminated in the creation of The Morrow Method of Phased Trauma Recovery - a clinically robust, depth-infused therapeutic framework that integrates Internal Family Systems (IFS), Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), and somatic practices into a comprehensive and highly unique therapeutic approach.

Alongside her trauma work, Elaine also has clinical experience working within a specialist NHS service treating complex and chronic health issues, such as: CFS/ME, Fibromyalgia, and irritable bowel syndrome (IBS). Elaine has also designed and implemented group therapy programmes within the NHS, for those living with chronic pain and fatigue.

Elaine’s specialism in working with chronic illness extends to those living with autoimmune conditions, such as Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD). Elaine is an active member of the Crohn’s and Colitis UK charity and has also been an independent expert contributor for the charity’s Mental Health Review.

As a therapist, Elaine applies a warm and holistic approach to treatment, working compassionately and to help integrate a mind/body connection, which can often be disrupted as a result of traumatic experience and also as a result of living with chronic illness and/or disability.

Elaine adopts an integrated therapeutic approach, and works with the following modalities:

  • The Morrow Method of Phased Trauma Recovery
  • Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, including Trauma-focussed CBT
  • EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation Reprocessing)
  • Schema-focussed therapy (working on Core Belief systems)
  • Internal Family Systems (IFS)
  • Working with chronic illness (in line with NICE guidelines)
